Job Description

Position Overview

The Jewish Education Project seeks a full-time Senior Managing Director, Educational Technology and Strategy, responsible for the vision, leadership, and execution of educational technology and digital strategy for the agency, including oversight of the Jewish Educator Portal and Truvie. Reporting to the Chief Program Officer and working closely with senior leadership in the agency, this role will:

  • Ensure that The Jewish Education Project is the leader in online professional development delivery.
  • Advance experimentation with technology for the field in-line with The Jewish Education Project’s innovation and incubation objectives.
  • Support and train colleagues to leverage the best of technology in the delivery of in-person professional development.
  • Serve as a thought leader in the field of digital and educational technology strategies for Jewish education and the Jewish community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess the current online learning and digital education landscape to position the agency for growth and success.
  • Plan, dream, and design a robust strategy that continuously advances The Jewish Education Project as a leader in digital education.
  • Provide strategic leadership in defining and expanding the organization’s approach to integrating technology and Jewish education.
  • Facilitate workshops, webinars, and networks as needed.
  • Supervise the Digital Education Team.
  • Enhance long-standing areas of work with the influence of digital technology.
  • Collaborate with agency colleagues and external partners to consult on pedagogical and technical aspects for creating and enhancing instructional content, courses, and projects. This includes integrating technology to improve teaching and learning across online, hybrid, and traditional courses while aligning with student learning outcomes.
  • Leverage existing relationships with organizations, resource partners, and individual educators as well as actively pursue new partnerships and collaborations.
  • Engage the leadership team, board of directors, foundations and other funders with the strategic developments of our work in this arena, with the goal of securing additional funding.

Experience, Qualifications, and Competencies

  • Strong leadership skills, including the ability to articulate and implement organizational mission, vison, and goals,
  • Experience in leading a technology development process in collaboration with outside vendors, including design and development professionals.
  • Skill and 10+ years of experience in educational technology or comparable relevant experience in digital education and the online learning market,
  • Experience leading educational technology change across departments and/or organizations,
  • Excellent interpersonal, political, and diplomatic skills, along with the ability to lead and partner with integrity and inspiration; flexibility and openness to working with professional and volunteer community leaders nationwide and in Israel,
  • A decisive and inclusive decision maker with the ability to manage details while focusing on the big picture,
  • Capable of teaching others to expand the circle of skill; creativity and ability to push and inspire others to think beyond the traditional educational landscape to use digital technology to influence Jewish education of tomorrow,
  • Entrepreneurial self-starter, creative and innovative manager, comfortable leading in fluid environments, taking risks and experimenting,
  • Skill in presenting oneself and communicating in a manner that is clear, effective, and inspiring,
  • An organized manager, comfortable taking strategic direction and implementing that direction on his/her/their own,
  • Experience in leading and inspiring professional staff,
  • Experience in project oversight (teams, budget, etc.),
  • Preferably, deep familiarity with Jewish educational landscape, and direct Jewish education experience a plus,
  • Problem solver with top notch planning and prioritizing skills,
  • Ability to develop and cultivate trusted relationships, that result in revenue generation,
  • A persuasive and passionate communicator, both written and oral, including grant writing,
