Job Description

United Hatzalah is the largest independent, non-profit, fully-volunteer emergency medical services organization that provides first response care in Israel within minutes of the initial call of distress. As part of Friends of United Hatzalah’s dynamic 2023 expansion, we are seeking entrepreneurial, spirited, proactive, motivated professionals with a passion for Israel and lifesaving to join our US-based team in newly created roles in various locations across the US.

We are currently seeking a Major Gifts Officer reporting to the Director of Development. This full-time position (3 days in office, 2 days remote) based in our New York City headquarters, will be responsible for maintaining and growing an existing portfolio in the New York catchment area. Communicating and supporting the vision, mission and core values of United Hatzalah of Israel into the Jewish community and with existing and potential contributors. Start date; early November 2023.

 Major Gifts Officer Responsibilities:

  • Manage a portfolio of major donors and prospects in the New York area, ensuring timely, appropriate, and meaningful donor engagement and solicitation.
  • Develop individual fundraising strategies that work for each unique donor, building a pipeline of donors who have potential to give larger gifts.
  • Coordinate donor meetings with key professional leadership.
  • Plan and execute major donor cultivation and stewardship activities/events.
  • Actively contribute to the development team by supporting colleagues, collaborating on projects, and sharing information.
  • Accurately update and maintain major donor/prospect information and activity in donor database system (Salesforce).
  • Support United Hatzalah org-wide priorities and other duties as assigned.

To be successful in this job, you excel in the following areas:

  • Proven ability to secure major gifts of $10,000+
  • Skilled in relationship development with donors, lay leaders, and colleagues.
  • Ability to identify and cultivate new prospects.
  • Knowledge of and experience with a CRM database, (Salesforce preferred).
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and strategic in project management.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Deep understanding of the NYC Jewish philanthropic community.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills. Ability to utilize different forms of relevant communication.
