About the Job

The Director, Excel Global Community will be primarily responsible for ensuring the growth and development of the ever-expanding global community of Excel Fellows as they progress through the Birthright Israel Excel program and embark on their post-college careers. The Director will be the Excel project lead for the Excel community outside of Israel, directly managing North American staff. The Director will be based in the New York office (with a hybrid schedule) and will report to Excel’s Executive Director in Israel. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing organization that nurtures and develops the most promising young Jewish leaders in the world.

                                   

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the annual planning and execution of Excel programing outside of Israel, including working with the North American Excel team to plan and implement programming, engage with the Excel community, and foster the continuing connections that the Fellows have to one another and the larger US-Israel business and tech ecosystem.
  • Manage North American Excel budgeting, fundraising support, and development of measurable KPIs.
  • Manage Excel’s business development and strategic partnerships with the many stakeholders in North America and beyond: business leaders, non-profit and leadership organizations, key supporters of the program, Excel Fellow families, and more.
  • Oversee the onboarding, development, engagement, and retention of the global Excel community, including forging stronger connections between Excel’s Fellows and its Board.
  • Manage all aspects of the life-long Excel fellowship, which includes an annual conference, seminars, webinars, and meetings with international leaders.
  • Partner with the Birthright Israel Foundation and the Birthright Israel International (Taglit) fundraising teams to assist with fundraising in support of Excel.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Minimum 7 years of work experience with a preference for those who have held leadership and/or management roles.
  • Business-minded orientation, preferably with at least 5 years of experience in the private business and/or tech sector.
  • Knowledge and experience of the Jewish world, specifically the 20-35 age demographic.
  • Familiarity with the North American educational system and summer internship opportunities.
  • Familiarity with Israel’s tech ecosystem is a plus (from investment companies/VCs to portfolio start-ups).
  • Experience with production of events/seminars, including content development.
  • Tech Savvy – a beta-testing enthusiast and early adopter of new technology.
  • Knowledge of and experience with popular and emerging social media platforms.
  • Exceptional communication (written/verbal) – should feel comfortable both when speaking in front of large groups and when having one-on-one conversations with business and non-profit leaders.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, and a team player with a demonstrated ability to work in a cross-functional role.
  • A thoughtful, engaging, and inspiring manager.
  • Passionate and highly motivated with the ability to work independently.
  • Ability to prioritize and execute responsibilities in the face of conflicting priorities or unexpected situations.
  • A highly energetic, positive, and proactive approach.

 

Salary Range

$150,000-$170,000
