Job Description

United Hatzalah is the largest independent, non-profit, fully-volunteer emergency medical services organization that provides first response care in Israel within minutes of the initial call of distress.

As part of Friends of United Hatzalah’s dynamic 2023 expansion, we are seeking entrepreneurial spirited, proactive, motivated professionals with a passion for Israel and lifesaving to join our US-based team in newly created roles in various locations across the US.

We are currently seeking a Development Officer. This full-time position reports to the Director of Development. The ideal candidate is creative in fundraising and donor engagement strategies. This candidate is a people – person and enjoys building and sustaining relationships. They should be passionate about United Hatzalah’s Mission and will work closely and collaboratively with US and Israeli team members. This position will work within a friendly and sociable team full of like-minded individuals and grow a meaningful career in the non-profit sector. Operating on a hybrid work model: three set days in the office and two days remote based in New York City. Start date; Early November 2023.

The Development Officer will steward existing donors part of a National Portfolio of donors giving $10,000 and below to the organization

  • Retain and grow the United Hatzalah donor base
  • Engage in prospect/donor cultivation
  • Solicitation and stewardship of the donor portfolio
  • Effectively utilize the CRM platform in support of donor relationship management
  • Identify donors within the portfolio who have major gift capacity and develop an engagement strategy
  • Initiate and coordinate fundraising activities and meetings
  • Manage and develop lay leadership relationships to support overall fundraising efforts
  • Collaborate with regional fundraisers to engage donors at the local level
  • Plan and help execute local events to drive awareness and engagement with the organization
  • Identify legacy gift candidates

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree
  • Exceptional and effective communication skills, both written and oral
  • Fundraising experience
  • Experience with donor prospect research
  • Strong goal orientation, exceptional time management skills, and ability to manage multiple deadlines
  • Demonstrated experience raising funds and building relationships with stakeholders
  • Self-starter, collaborative, and detail-oriented
  • Passion for the work of United Hatzalah and Israel
  • Strong computer capabilities, including MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Occasional evenings and/or weekends & travel

Compensation: Salary is commensurate with background and experience, with comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, retirement plan with employer match, and paid holidays/time off. Compensation range $55,000-$62,000.
