Job Summary: Our team is looking for a strategic, creative and experienced professional to serve as the Development Director. The position will support the CEO in building the overall development strategy, supervising the development activities of the staff. and implementing the annual campaign with a focus on major donors and foundations.  The ideal candidate has a broad knowledge of development and the Jewish communal system, and a passion for Elluminate’s mission.

Responsibilities: This position reports directly to the CEO. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Developing and implementing the organization’s development strategy including major gifts, new donor prospects, and institutional giving.
• Institute a relationship management program to ensure all major funder relationships are assigned to staff portfolios for active stewardship  by proactively communicating progress and advancements, being responsive to inquiries, and identifying opportunities for relevant increased funding.
• Staff and work directly with Elluminate’s Engagement Committee Co-Chairs and leaders to develop and implement an annual fundraising plan including key goals, objectives, and metrics for the committee as well as individual team members.
• Implement development  management tools to track the progress of all fundraising plan components. Identify execution hurdles and work quickly and collaboratively to resolve issues.
• Draft funding proposals and programmatic reports to funders in conjunction with the Director of Strategic Engagement & Operations
• Work in partnership with Operations team to manage fundraising portfolios including the tracking of moves management activities, and the creation of robust progress dashboards.
• {With staff and volunteer/board team} Proactively propose solicitor assignments and account managers to all donors/prospects and oversee all activity to ensure staff are supported to manage their respective portfolios.
• Collaborate on the planning and implementation of the annual gala and other events taking a leadership role on recruitment and fundraising efforts.
• Collaborate to develop and implement digital fundraising campaigns and create relevant collateral for varying development needs.
• Direct and support other relevant fundraising projects as needed.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

• 5+ years of professional experience in development, non-profit, management, or a related field
• Entrepreneurial, creative thinker with experience managing, leading and growing a team
• Ability to motivate and take initiative as a self-starter
• Has relationship-manager ability to be both engaging and organized
• Bachelor’s degree required
• Experience using database software for development
• Previous experience in donor and prospect research
• Clear written, verbal, and visual presentation communication skills required
• Results-oriented and driven team player
• Passionate about the work and mission of Elluminate
• Must have flexibility to attend work-related programs, events, and gatherings on weeknight evenings and weekends when necessary
