Job Description
POSITION TITLE: Associate Vice President, FRD
DEPARTMENT: FRD
REPORTS TO: Vice President of Philanthropy and Resource Development
The Jewish Federations of North America (“JFNA”) consist of 146 Jewish Federations and dozens of Network communities which collectively raise and distribute more than $3 billion annually to support flourishing Jewish life and the needs of the Jewish people in their home communities and around the world. The Jewish Federation system, among the top 10 charities on the continent, leads the largest network of volunteer and professional leaders who build and sustain Jewish communities that are healthy, safe, caring, welcoming and inclusive, educated and engaged, involved in the broader community, and deeply connected to Israel and the global Jewish people.
Background
In support of its new strategy, JFNA has embraced fundraising around signature continental initiatives as a core strategy in strengthening Federations and key priority areas. Furthermore, JFNA has maintained a commitment to providing FRD support to communities and key affinity groups. JFNA is committed to developing the internal capacity to support a growing number of JFNA-led fundraising efforts and to augment our support of the system and key affinity groups.
The AVP of FRD will work closely with the Vice President of Philanthropy and FRD and the rest of the FRD team to support the implementation of the Jewish Federation of North America’s FRD strategy. This position will be responsible for supporting national fundraising campaigns, assisting in FRD professional development, developing national stewardship opportunities, and collaborating with key affinity areas such as Prime Ministers Council, King David Society, National Young Leadership Cabinet and National Women’s philanthropy and executing on JFNA’s boutique and nation mission strategy.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Support the execution of JFNA’s FRD strategy. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Implement fundraising strategies and management for JFNA’s continental fundraising initiatives.
- Develop and oversee a strategic stewardship program for all of JFNA’s major campaign initiatives including the relaunch of Prime Ministers Council (PMC) and King David Society (KDS) offerings for the field.
- Serve as the lead FRD professional in mission strategy, design and execution of both boutique and national FRD missions.
- Serve as main liaison with the Lay Leadership Department to support a core focus on FRD in their leadership engagement efforts.
- Partner with FRD professional development team on designing and executing overall FRD professional development strategies for the system.
- Support the VP of Philanthropy in staffing the National Campaign Chair and organizing regular meetings between the National Campaign Chair and local campaign chairs as well as community visits.
- Convene a ‘Campaign Directors’ cohort to further support local growth of the annual campaign.
- Developing and manage donor pipelines for JFNA’s continental fundraising campaigns
- Supervise and develop staff as needed and assigned
The ideal candidate
- Brings a minimum of ten years of relevant experience.
- Has a proven track-record of successful FRD strategy, individual fundraising performance, FRD training and campaign management
- Is a self-starter able to seek out creative solutions to problems independently.
- Is a strong communicator and presenter, both verbally and in writing.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, calm under pressure, confident and collaborative, and thrives in a fluid, fast-paced and entrepreneurial environment.
