Toto is the company that makes the extravagant Japanese toilets known as Washlets. These toilets come with heated seats, Totopia Kr a deodorizer and bidet in addition to other amenities.

Before forming Toto its members were session musicians for Steely Dan[3] Seals, Crofts[4] Boz Skaggs, Sonny and Cher. Five guitarist Steve Lukather is the band’s singer.

About Toto

Toto was formed in 1976 by guitarists Jeff Porcaro, David Paich (who at the time were also famous studio musicians with Boz Scaggs) and bassist/singer Bobby Kimball. Taking their name from the Latin word which means “all all-encompassing,” the group was intent on exploring all styles of music.

The third album from Toto, Turn Back, was not a success in 1981. However, they bounced back with their fourth album, Isolation, which contained two hits including the title track and Roseanna. The album and tour made them a household name throughout the globe.

After a gap of couple of years, Toto return with the album Fahrenheit in the year 1986. The album is a departure from the ballads of previous albums, and features some heavy rock. This album was their first to be certified platinum in North America.

In the course of recording the fifth album, the group loses its manager and faces financial challenges. They decide to change their name and record a new album with the new producer. Joseph Williams, the son of John Williams, the legendary film composer and actress Barbara Ruick from 1950s, replaces Fergie Frederiksen as lead vocalist. Joseph is a more natural frontman than Frederiksen and gives the band a much-needed boost.

In 1999, the band release Mindfields and begins an extensive tour around the world. After a few months in Europe they travel to Japan where the shows are sold out. After a brief break, Toto resumes recording and begins recording their first live album titled Absolutely Live in 1993 which includes the cover of Weezer’s track Hash Pipe in response to the band performing their hit song Africa during the recent tour. Toto’s touring lineup includes drummer Lenny Castro and bassist Shannon Forrest, as well as keyboardist Shem Von Schroeck.

Music

Toto is an American rock group that achieved their greatest success in the eighties. The band was founded by session musicians who had experience and has sold more than 40 million albums in the world.

Toto was the first album released by toto in 1978. It was a huge success that helped the band gain international fame. Since then, the group has released fourteen more albums, all of which have also been a hit.

Toto composed their first and sole film score in 1984 for the film Dune. It was a massive undertaking and the entire group had to be involved. Kingdom of Desire was another success album. After a world tour, Bobby Kimball quit the band. He was replaced by Fergie Frederiksen of Le Roux. The band then forged ahead with their fifth album, Isolation. The album had a host of songs that were hits such as “Stranger in Town”.

After Isolation, Toto took a break from the spotlight and stepped back from the stage. This gave every member of the band the opportunity to pursue their own solo projects. In 1996, the band reformed to tour and record an album. This was the first time that all original members were on stage together for over 10 years.

The next year, Toto toured together with Ringo Starr and his All Starr Band. This was the last time that all of Toto’s original members were performing at the same time. Following this, the band disbanded once again. However, Toto reunited in 2010 to perform a benefit for the ALS Foundation. It was the first time that all of the original Toto members had been performing together for over 31 years. In addition to the original members, keyboardist Greg Tambu filled in for Paich and bassist David Hungate filled in for Shem Von Schroeck.

Tours

Toto is among the most popular bands in rock music. They have had huge hits such as “Rosanna,” Hold The Line,” and “Africa,” which has been certified 8X platinum. With a wide range of influences, ranging from progressive rock to world rhythms to soul and jazz, the group continues to delight fans with their energetic arena rock.

The band experienced several setbacks throughout their final times, despite their fame. In 2002, drummer Greg Phillinganes left the group and keyboardist David Paich took a leave of absence due to health reasons. Shem von Schröeck was brought in to replace him, but the band wasn’t the same without Paich or Phillinganes. In 2008, a string of lineup changes and a string of albums that were disappointing led Toto to break up for a few years. But, the group recommenced touring in 2012 with the release of their album 40 Trips Around the Sun.

The album was a return to form for the band, and the tour accompanied it with sold-out shows across North America and Europe. Toto’s reunion was made more exciting by the addition of guitarist Steve Lukather and bassist Shem von Schroeck, both of whom had rejoined the band.

Toto’s music is the same today as it was back in the 1970s and 80s and growing in popularity with each new generation. Their success has made them a permanent part of pop culture, and their live performances are always packed with energy and excitement.
